Welcome to the beginning of big changes ahead. The #justonemile programme is your ticket to joining the world of running. Whether you go fast enough to qualify for the olympics or you are slower than a turtle pushing a wheelbarrow – it doesn’t matter. What matters is that YOU are making a change to become healthier and fitter. This will not only impact your life, but the lives of those around you. Involve your partner, involve the kids and don’t stop there. Bring granny, a neighbour or a friend and spread the love and the opportunity to make a change for the better.

Start Here

Spend a week getting out for a walk every day. It can be just 10 minutes. Walk to the shop rather than drive. Park a little further away from the school at collection time or park your car a little further away from work. Doing this for 1 week will help to prepare you for the programme.

IMPORTANT: During the jog portions, you should feel like you are working a little bit. If you feel like you absolutely have to stop or you just can’t keep going – SLOW DOWN. If you feel like it is taking absolutely nothing out of you and you could do it another 50 times, speed up a little.

Keep asking yourself – Do I feel like I’m working a little bit hard? If the answer is Yes!, you are doing it right!

Part Two

Before getting started here – Lets take a look at how you were doing in Part One. Ask yourself these questions before you continue.

  1. Have I enjoyed the last 6 weeks?                                                                    If the answer is yes, then keep it up. If the answer is no, then think about why. Has time been too tight? Do you feel the programme is too difficult or too easy? See what changes you can make so that this programme works for you.
  2. Am I ready to progress to the next level?                                                        If you feel you are ready, then go for it. If you feel you are not – ask yourself why not. If you don’t know the answer, and it is just self doubt, then feel the fear and do it anyway. If you feel very tired and you are not meeting your targets, then take another week at level 6 before moving on.
